Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones are giving viewers a look at the inner workings of their show and friendship in a new segment called “Ask Away.”
The TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle co-hosts debuted the segment June 9 and shared two questions from fans of the show, which were submitted on Instagram.
Up first, they answered the following query: “Do you have a favorite memory together?”
Sheinelle went first and recalled a time when the TODAY crew hung out on a rooftop in New York City for the whole day.
“About how many years ago was that?” she asked Jenna.
“Three or four or five,” Jenna replied.
“It started around, say, noon. Would you like to tell America when it ended?” Sheinelle said.
“Nine p.m., right?” Jenna asked.
Sheinelle continued, trying to remember if Dylan Dreyer had “chipped her tooth” at the get together. Then, she realized she’d actually “skinned her knee.”
“We haven’t done a fun lunch in a long time. But we like to do that. It’s really fun,” Sheinelle said.
Next, it was Jenna’s turn to share her favorite memory with her co-host, which occurred during one of many Olympics games TODAY has covered over the years.
“We were kind of on standby, so we didn’t do much. And we spent the entire time, or I did, learning TikTok dances with Sheinelle,” she said.
“It was a good time,” Sheinelle agreed.
“It was fun. It’s what the kids do, bro,” Jenna joked.
For their second and final question of the day, the co-hosts offered insight into their on-air wardrobe while answering the question, “Do you choose your own clothes?”
While the co-hosts often do pick out their own outfits, Sheinelle said she got a bit of help this morning.
“I was going to do something Knicks-related, and then they didn’t win, so I was like, ‘OK, well, let me keep the top,’” she said of her orange blouse.
Sheinelle then explained that one of her colleagues suggested she wear a pair of brown pants.
“I think it looks chic,” Jenna said.
“I’ve never worn orange and brown,” Sheinelle said.
Jenna, who was wearing a khaki dress, then suggested that she and Sheinelle “both kind of look like we’re going on some sort of safari.”
